" You said You would never leave me ..."
When We Feel that God has Abandoned Us....
It was a night long ago...and a man was sleeping. He was dreaming that he and God were walking side by side next to a beautiful, sandy beach just before sunset.
All of a sudden, lightnings in the sky started showing bits and pieces from the man's life. In every scene he noticed 2 pair of foot steps on the same sandy beach he was walking at that time. One pair was his own and the other one was God's.
As he has watching his life passing by before his eyes like a film, feeling mixed emotions , he looked back for a while...
At his saddest moments...through his most painful nights...at his times when tears were pouring out from his eyes, emptying his soul's pain...there was only one pair of foot steps on the sand...
Feeling disappointment and anger, he asked God.... " My God, you told me that when I would have you in my life, you would walk along with me all the way. Why did you desert me through my hardest times? "
And God answered :
" My dear child, my precious child, I would never leave you. The times you saw one pair of footsteps on the sand....were the times I was holding you in my arms"
This is a story that really touched my soul, for I have been through storms and deserts in my life and times when I felt exactly like this man did. But God was always there holding me and giving me strength to carry on. And I did. And If I am here today, is because His hand, never let mine go....

Indeed God never abandons or forsakes us. We are commanded to rejoice in the Lord always (Philippians 4). While the circumstances may not be joyful, He shall overcome them. I am so pleased that you know He is by your side.
Thank you Hyphenbird for your kind comment and words. It's true that there was a time when I turned my back to God, as I was in great pain and couldn't comprehent why. But He is a loving father and waits for His children with open arms, whenever they are ready to come back and sends His angels to ease our pain. Such an angel has touched my life and brought smile to my face again.
Litsabd, it's such a moving story but it conveys very beautifully that God is with us all the way, only we do not see him next to us, in our difficult times. Those were the times when he was carrying us in His arms. How beautiful and true are these words.

I didn't exactly have the best of childhoods myself but with a good knowledge of the scriptures I have found comfort and hope so it is possible.
